Have you ever wondered, “Am I living a good life?” We all have the same 24 hours in a day; however, each and every one of us spends them differently, leading to various outcomes. In this week’s post, we’re excited to share a TedTalk by neuroscientist Wendy Suzuki and HSBC Global Private Banking and Wealth’s CEO, Annabel Spring, where they discuss the key components of living a good life. While watching, be sure to note where you are already meeting the mark and where you may need to improve for a good life!
Key Components to Living a Good Life
Below are our favorite key points from Wendy Suzuki and Annabel Spring, some of which even touch on our past blog post topics and our 10 Rules for Life!
- There are three main areas people consider important to living a good life: physical health, mental wellness, and financial fitness.
- These three areas all correlate: those who are financially fit, have a 30% higher perception of their quality of life, while also being 20% more likely to be physically fit, and twice as likely to be above average in mental wellness.
- Brain health is wealth. The healthier the brain, the healthier and more motivated we are, leading to longevity.
- Social connection and positive interactions lead to more happiness. For more information, check out our post about the Harvard study on happiness.
- Anxiety can be a good thing. If you learn to take your anxiety and use it as a signpost, you can see what really matters to you, and use your anxiety as a tool to identify opportunities and risk management.
- Moving your body daily has many benefits. Just 10 minutes of walking decreases anxiety and depression due to a release of dopamine, serotonin, and noradrenaline.
- Stay curious! The more curiosity you have for your physical, mental, and financial health, the more likely you are to grow and succeed.
